Three films
Jul. 31st, 2013 04:50 pmJust realised I've got out of the habit of doing a write-up of films I've watched. So here's a quick comment on the last three films I saw at the cinema. All contain spoilers.
( Iron Man 3 )
( Star Trek Into Darkness )
( Man of Steel )

Yeah, that took longer than I thought. I found myself utterly stymmied by the first question, moved on to the others, and then kept thinking "But I don't have an answer for the first one yet". And I still don't.

I'm not sure where this story came from. It's my first non-crossover Trek fic, and probably my first unequivically non-comedic story of any type. The basic concept just occured to me, and I found myself writing it as I went along. I was quite surprised by the ending.
( This story takes place in 2288, during the events of the Mirror Universe novella Sorrows of Empire. )

lost_spook. I'm really not a shippy person, so I thought having to come up with answers to the meme might produce some surprises even to me...

Star Trek movie
Oct. 11th, 2008 11:57 amI've been reading about the new Star Trek movie. For those who don't know, this is a prequel movie, set shortly before the Original Series, with a new cast playing Kirk and co[1]. One of the things I read was that there was a time-travel element to it, and as well as Sylar-from-Heroes as Young Spock, there would also be Leonard Nimoy as Old Spock, emphasising that this was the same universe, not a total reinvention like Battlestar Galactica
This made me think of something which they probably aren't doing, but which I think would be a really good idea. This is, basically, the feature-length pilot the original series never got at the time.
So, by the rules of Star Trek feature-length pilots, there should be a quick cameo by either Scott Bakula under several layers of aging make-up or Jolene Blalock with grey hair.
[1]Oddest casting decision so far: Simon Pegg as Scotty. As it said in SFX, his only similarity to James Doohan is not being Scottish...
