Earth Hour

With about half an hour to go until Earth Hour, and Mum asking how many candles I'd need in the kitchen, it suddenly occurred to me to double check if it was just lights, or if it was all electricals.

Which is just as well, since otherwise I wouldn't have discovered we'd got the week wrong, and it's next Saturday...

The following was written and recited by Marcus Brigstocke on The Now Show. It's a work of genius, and I hope you enjoy it:

So yesterday we did our bit for Earth Hour. Because Mum was going round to my sister's anyway. we decided I'd go too, rather than sit in the dark on my own. And so, from 8:30 to 9:30, we sat in the dark, chatted, and read by candlelight.

Then we got home, and I discovered the grill hadn't been turned all the way down. And the Skybox was only on standby. And the TV in my room was also on standby, and probably had been all day.

So I don't think I can honestly say I helped save the world...

Edit: Actually, now I look at it again, it says "turn off all the lights", not "turn off everything using electricity". And we did do that.
