1. Pick five fandoms. List them in alphabetical order.
2. Visit this site to find your first RANDOM POEM OF POWER. Write down the 5th line (yes, even if it's an E.E. Cummings poem and you wind up with an apostrophe). Repeat five times and — you guessed it — list 'em in alphabetical order! (No cheating, mind! This is a challenge and it's always been about creativity.)
3. I think you can see where this is going. Write a very quick 50-word half-drabble for each fandom (try to do it all in one sitting — make your brain explode!), using the line from the poem as a prompt. You don't have to include it in the half-drabble — it's just inspiration.
4. Bravo! Have a cookie.
And because John did his in verse, I felt obliged to make an attempt likewise. (I didn't manage it in one sitting; I got three of them, then decided I needed sleep.)
The fandoms are Demon Knights, Discworld, Doctor Who, The Muppets and Red Dwarf.

Jan. 16th, 2011 02:30 pmThose who read my stuff on alt.drwho.creative might recall my recent genderflipped Round story, which was far more concerned with assigning realworld actors to the genderflipped characters than actually doing anything with the concept. (I take the view that now the concept's out there, it's available for anyone who actually has an idea for a story.) Well, it's just occured to me there was one idea I missed.
Obviously Brigadier Wilfred Bambera would be played by Craig Charles...

lost_spook. I'm really not a shippy person, so I thought having to come up with answers to the meme might produce some surprises even to me...

Oh Lord, it's going meta...
Actually, it wasn't as irritating as I expected. I did like the conceit that they're in a universe which got two seasons we didn't, which is where all the stuff that changed between the last time we saw them and now happened. And the VW Starbug deserves a place in the series.
But tomorrow ... they meet Craig Charles, presumably, which is where it just gets silly. (Or, just possibly, they meet Lloyd Mullaney, which is even sillier.)

Well, that was ... interesting.
It wasn't bad; Rimmer got some great lines, there were some fun ideas, and I love Arnie's newfound interest in classic cars (not a million miles away from a certain Chris "And this ... is my other Bently" Barrie), but old Dwarf used to feel like an amazing show even when it was, in fact, cr*p, and this just didn't have the zing it used to.
( Mild spoilers )
