After writing three quarters of a script for The Muppet Guards! Guards!, it occurs to me that taking vast wodges of Pterry's dialogue and putting them in the mouths of Muppets probably exceeds the copyright allowances generally made for fanworks. Ah, well; more time to work on Storytime!

Because I was bored this afternoon, here's Daibhid Chelonidae and Bob the Moose (as seen here) written up as characters for Steve Jackson Games' TOON.

Memed, again, from [livejournal.com profile] john_elliott and [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook

Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment.

Ask your flist / circle to post questions in the comments. For example: 'One, nine and fifteen are chosen by a prophecy to save the world from four. Do they succeed?', 'Under what circumstances might five and fourteen fall in love?', 'Which character on the list would you most want on your side in a zombie invasion?'

After your flist has asked enough questions, round them up and answer them using the fifteen characters you selected beforehand, then post them.

I have my list, and I'm ready for the questions.

I feel I should start writing a series of drabbles in which the new Minister of Chance poses as, is mistaken for, or quotes Pitt the Younger, Lord Lucan, Sir James Chettam, and many characters from detective stories. But I can't be bothered.

You know the Storytime! I sometime allude to vaguely here? The one I've been working on (on and off) for over two years?

Just now it suddenly occured to me to wonder if the original text, which due to the nature of Storytime, I've been quoting extensively, was actually in the public domain. It turns out it is.

Give me a story of mine and an alternate set of characters: protagonists, antagonists, or bit-players. I'll give you at least a hundred words of a scene that could have turned out differently.

TBH, I'm not sure I have enough actual characterisation in my stories (which are rarely more than 100 words anyway) for this to work. It has, however, encouraged me to spend the afternoon finally creating a Fic List like what everyone else who posts fic on LJ has.

Remember that cyberpunk pastiche of The Threepenny Opera I did a while back? Well, I just found this on my computer, which I wrote at the same time, then forgot about.

Patent - A Cyberopera by Gilb-8 and S-11 )
daibhidc: (Doctor Who)
Those who read my stuff on alt.drwho.creative might recall my recent genderflipped Round story, which was far more concerned with assigning realworld actors to the genderflipped characters than actually doing anything with the concept. (I take the view that now the concept's out there, it's available for anyone who actually has an idea for a story.) Well, it's just occured to me there was one idea I missed.

Obviously Brigadier Wilfred Bambera would be played by Craig Charles...

I'm idly flicking through TVTropes, as is my wont, and on the page Compulsary School Age (about characters who look like they're in their teens having to go to school, even if they're Really Seven Hundred Years Old), I read this:

*The 2002 tv series That Was Then and Do Over both featured protagonists in their 30s who were reliving their high school years.

Aha! Now I know why the This Time Round High School AU created by [livejournal.com profile] scarfman is called "Then Do That Over"!

I'm not sure where this story came from. It's my first non-crossover Trek fic, and probably my first unequivically non-comedic story of any type. The basic concept just occured to me, and I found myself writing it as I went along. I was quite surprised by the ending.

This story takes place in 2288, during the events of the Mirror Universe novella Sorrows of Empire. )

Memed from [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook. I'm really not a shippy person, so I thought having to come up with answers to the meme might produce some surprises even to me...

Sorry I haven't been online for a couple of days - I am still working on the others.

When you need a McGuffin, where do you go? )

Still working on the others, but I came up with an idea for this quite quickly.

Since which Doctor wasn't specified, I decided to be silly )
