Merlin - Goblin's Gold
Sep. 27th, 2010 02:51 pmAs pointed out in Radio Times, this was the episode when they finally noticed they had one of the great comedy actors in the cast. And he was brilliant.
And ... that's about it really. Gaius-as-a-goblin was really funny, and the story revolved around that. Interesting bit with Gaius and Morgana, reminding us that she's Evil, and the Gwen-and-Arthur romance gets namechecked, but basically none of the plotty stuff is important to this episode. Gaius is posessed by a goblin and causes trouble. Merlin has to stop him. What more do you need?
One thing I'm hoping they'll do sooner rather than later is a Gwen/Morgana confrontation. Gwen's clearly noticed there's something different about her since her return, and given they were good friends in the last two seasons, she's not the sort of person to not express her concerns. But that belongs in an episode that's about evil Morgana. This one was about Gaius charging money for "cures" that gave people boils and flatulence.
