Discworld Convention 2010

daibhidcI'm back!
That was brilliant. I managed to meet quite a few afpers, some even to speak to[1], and I even attended the Hedgehog Party for once, although unfortunately I soon realised I was absolutely shattered so I didn't stay long[2] but it was good to see everyone.
The Maskerade was stunning as ever. I didn't enter this time, because I couldn't think of anything as good as my 2008 costume - "Definitely Not The Nac Mac Feegle".
I can't remember who I voted for for Low King, although it wasn't Jen. I wished I had when she exit polled me, because I was impressed she pronounced "Daibhid" correctly (something like "Dayed"). Nobody pronounces "Daibhid" correctly; I never bother pronouncing it correctly.
Talks were good, esp. Jack'n'Ian and Jaqueline Simpson. And the preview of Snuff, the novel after next, still in the proofs stage, was intriguing...
Left on Monday morning, so I missed the Rocky Horror Discworld Show. Since just the idea of it has my brain trying to escape, it's probably just as well.

[1]When we were filling in the forms, Mum jokingly suggested that I should give her name as "Daibhid's Mum", since a lot of afpers practically knew her from my discussions, but only by that name. I took her up on it, and it worked; a few people spoke to her because they recognised the name.
[2]The same thing happened with the Rat Racing on Sunday. My metabolism isn't quite geared up for the Con; it expects that, if I insist on doing things in the evening (which I generally don't), they should at least be preceded by a long period of vegetation in the afternoon.
