Checking my spamtrap, I notice I have recieved two Nigerian scam emails that say "Spam" at the start of the message header. Were they trying for a double bluff, or something?
That's often an addition of a spam filter running on your service provider, the idea being that you'll then set up your own email filter that takes everything with that added [spam] in the subject line and filters it appropriately.
If it's new and you haven't changed service providers, perhaps they've just instigated a new spam filter.
Yup. I use a two-part spam filter myself. The initial security gateway doesn't delete anything, just tags it and sends it on so that it'll all end up in the one mail client's spam bucket if I ever need to review it.
I dunno; there were also about thirty e-mails in the spamtrap that didn't have the tag, and I don't think the two that did were the most recent ones.
(Heck, checking the trap again, it's caught four more messages since I cleared it after noticing that, and none of them say "Spam", although all of them are.)
