Johnny Depp didn't really have as talented and responsive co-stars to play off as Tim Curry. Neither Bloom nor Knightly (both of whom were cast for their ability to look pretty, and to occasionally look peeved) have the expressiveness and depth to draw on that Kermit, Miss Piggy and Gonzo does.
