On Sunday night, I was out of sleeping tablets. Something I should have remembered when I did my usual "stay on TVTropes until I'm tired". As I shut the computer down, I looked out the window and thought "Well, I clearly haven't been very long; it's still light out."

And then I looked at the clock and realised that, no, it wasn't still light...

See now, if you were on the proper side of the Atlantic, that wouldn't've been an issue because Monday was what you lot call a "bank holiday".

But only in some places - we had ours last weekend. Hail and well met, Queen Victoria. Long may we boogie on to your natal frolics.

My point was, it was a holiday here when you needed one. If it wasn't a holiday there when you needed one, because you'd had it the previous week, that only reinforces my point. QED.

Oh, it was a bank holiday here as well[1]. Unfortunately, my mum has a habit of organising bank holidays, so I still had to get up.

In fact, since I only work Tuesdays and Fridays at the moment, it might have been better if it hadn't been a bank holiday...

[1]Officially it's the Spring Bank Holiday, but people keep calling it Whit Monday, which is wrong, that was last week, and is presumably what [livejournal.com profile] agoodwinsmith was celebrating in Canananada.
