Inspired by Radio 4's The Vote Now Show, I took the online practice Life In The UK Test, designed to test immigrants on such essential everyday knowledge as why the Hugeunots left France.

I scored 66%. I'll pack my bags tomorrow.

I think all of them might be, depending on where in the UK you're immigrating to.

Does an immigrant moving to London need to know how to get housing in Northern Ireland? No.

Does an immigrant moving to Edinburgh need to know the proper name for the CofE? Probably not.

Testing people for "British" knowledge is a bit like expecting all American immigrants to know the state bird of Alaska and the history of the Chicago Cubs.
