Well, luckily I knew about the setting and characters from the DWM article, because Disney XD have decided either a) It's not worth taking the trouble to broadcast the episodes in the right order, or 2) It's not worth buying the pilot at all.
One you've got past the unintentional in media res, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't really anything special either, IMO. It's tempting to call it "An Australian near-future SJA, if Sarah was a male scientist and Rani's mum was with Torchwood". So that's what I'll do.
I got used to the new K9 design surprisingly quickly (although, again, it's a shame we missed the "regeneration scene"), and I'll definitely watch it again tomorrow.
