I was a bit of a fan of Marvel 2099 back in the day (1995), so I've been picking up Timestorm: 2009-2099. And most of it's been okay. It's clearly not set in the original continuity, but that's fine. I do like the new Spider-Man 2099, who has the same name and a broadly similar origin, but is still in high school; he's like the Ultimate Universe Miggy O'Hara.

And then I read Timestorm: 2009-2099 X-Men.

Do you know what was interesting about the original X-Men 2099? It showed a future where mutants were doing okay. Oh, things were a long way from perfect, but there weren't just a handful of mutants surviving following the Sentinal attacks, in yet another rehash of Days Of Future Past. Towards the end there was even a "mutant state", Halo City, where the X-Men were semi-official law enforcement types.

Do you know what was interesting about Timestorm: 2009-2099 X-Men? Me neither.
