1 Why do you write fanfic?
Because the owners of the properties won't hire me! I dunno, I just enjoy writing stories.
Since most of what I write is comedic, it's probably an offshoot of the joke-telling instinct.
2 When did you write your first fanfic and which fandom was it for?
Ooh, now your asking. I think I was writing Doctor Who and superhero stories as soon as I could write. My first proper fanfic what was put on the net where people could see it was ... (checks Google) ... in 2003. It was a Doctor Who/Red Dwarf crossover in which K9 fell in love with a Skutter.
3 Which fandoms do you, or have you, written for?
Doctor Who, mostly. A bit of DC and Marvel. I've written most of two Discworld fics, deliberately as far from anything Pterry's likely to do as possible, to hide the fact I can't possibly write as well as him. The Tale of Westala and Villtin. And Doctor Who crossovers with (that I can remember) Star Trek, Red Dwarf, Jonathan Creek, Battle of the Planets, Legion of Superheroes, The Monkees, Discworld again, The Goon Show, Dead Ringers, Mitch Benn's Crimes Against Music, You'll Have Had Your Tea?, Scotch And Wry, Thursday Next, The Dreaming, Johnny and the Bomb, The Muppet Movie, QI, Blackadder, and Twinings tea ads.
Oh, and I once did a Coupling/Press Gang crossover which wasn't Doctor Who, or maybe it was. And I'm dabbling with an Anno Dracula story set in the 22nd century.
4 Do you read much fanfic or do you mainly write?
Oh, I read a lot.
5 What comes easiest for you when writing?
(dialogue, descriptions, plot, characterizations, humour, angst...)
Humour, definitely. I like to think I've got a good ear for characterisation and dialogue. Hopefully, the plot will get generated through these, and if it doesn't I'll just head straight for the punchline.
6 Which genres do you mainly write? (action, angst, dark, drama, horror, humour...)
Humour by a long shot. I think I've written one serious fic, ever. Bizarrely, it was the Johnny & The Bomb crossover, establishing that Mrs Tachyon was actually a comedy character from Doctor Who spin-offs.
7 Which genres will you not write?
Anything except humour 8-). Actually, the only thing I've definitely ruled out is anything shippy - I simply wouldn't know where to begin.
8 Are reader comments/responses important?
Yes, absolutely.
9 Do you use a beta reader?
No.
10 Which is your favourite character to write fanfic for and why?
The Tenth Doctor. I can just start him talking, and he'll go on for ages.
11 Which are your favourite ships (including friendships) that you write the most?
Mmm... Not sure. Seventh and Benny are my favourite Doctor/Companion team (Benny's the same as Tenth; her dialogue is just so much fun). I don't know if I've written more about them than any other TARDIS group, though.
12 Do you have characters that are so strongly established that they're in your heads?
Not really. Although Tenth is getting close.
13 Which characters are you most comfortable doing a POV for? Which is the hardest?
I'm not very good at POV in general (Lord Kendy D'Avid from the Taleoverse doesn't count for obvious reasons). I think I find the Doctor (all of him) easier for the same reason it's supposed to be difficult; he's a mysterious and complex figure. But he's so mysterious and complex you can just about get away with presenting his "surface thoughts", and dropping a few hints that there's more stuff going on elsewhere in his mind.

Heh. I like that, too. I find 10 year old Ten writing even more fun. Oh, but you know that.
I might do this meme, but I will have to think. Hard questions. Me of little brain...
