Okay, I was lying in bed last night, and I suddenly started thinking about this, possibly because I'd been reading about Muppet Fairy Tale Theatre on Muppet Wiki, and have just started watching Season 3 of OUAT on Netflix. (So if anything here is contra-indicated by something that happens after "Bad Form", don't tell me!)

What triggered it was that in the MFTT version of Rumpelstiltskin, Gonzo plays the title character. He's also the satyr in MFTT's King Midas, which fits with OUAT's idea that Mr Gold is every mysterious figure offering power at a price. Belle, therefore, would be Camilla.

MFTT's Rumpelstiltskin has Piggy as the Miller's daughter, which means she gets to be Regina. This in turn neatly locks into place with the comic Muppet Snow White in which she's the Evil Queen. So, going along with that, we get Spamela Hamderson as Snow/Mary Margaret and Kermit as Charming/David.

If, like me, you're a purist who doesn't much like the idea of Kermit's True Love not being Piggy, then we can tie in the comic Muppet Robin Hood and the idea from "A Very Common Fairy" that Robin is Regina's second True Love. In that case, Charming is probably Spammy's Bay of Pigswatch co-star David Hoggslehoff.

So if we're going for Kermit as Robin, we can discount Muppet Peter Pan, where he also plays the title character. There was an episode of Muppet Babies where Scooter was Peter, lets go with that. And for Hook - both Muppet Babies and Muppet Peter Pan had Gonzo, but we can't do that, so maybe he's the human guest star. (Tim Curry's Long John Silver would fit nicely.)

That's the main fairy tale characters taken care of. Emma would have to be a pig, since her parents are. Annie Sue, perhaps? And if we make Balefire/Neil a frog (I don't know, maybe his mother was a frog), then we can probably justify Robin as Henry.

And that's what I've been wasting my time thinking about.
