A totally ridiculous idea for a filksong, sort of in the spirit of Mitch Benn (who I tried to mention but didn't have space for. Or Milton Jones. Or Nebulous. Or...)

Radio Ha Ha

(Radio.)

When Cabin Pressure starts to rise,
99p seems a great prize,
The best comedy I can get,
I won't find on my TV set.

And even though I wasn't born,
For Navy Lark or Round the Horne,
I know the spirit of the Goons,
Was carried on by Angus Prune.

(Radio.)

So every day, throughout the week,
My expectations are not bleak.
At half past six, on BBC,
I've listened while I've had my tea.

Linda wastes time, Absolute Power,
Just a Minute, Hancock's Half Hour,
Radio.

(Radio.)

All we hear is,
Radio Ha-ha,
Radio Hee-hee,
Radio Ha-ha,
All we hear is,
Radio Ha-ha,
Radio Hee-hee,
Unbelievable, but true,
Radio,
Sorry, I've no clue.

And then I watched, good gracious me,
As shows migrated to TV,
But somehow they just weren't the same,
Tempted back by Old Harry's Game.

Let's hope there'll be no situation,
Where Hardy won't speak to the nation,
On the News Quiz, or anything,
As long as they don't let him sing.

News at Bedtime, John Finnemore[1]
With The Now Show, and On The Hour.
Radio.

(Radio.)

All we hear is,
Radio Ha-ha,
Radio Hee-hee,
Radio Ha-ha,
All we hear is,
Radio Ha-ha,
Radio Hee-hee,
Radio Ha ha.

All we hear is,
Radio Ha-ha,
Radio Hee-hee,
Unbelievable, but true,
Sorry, I've no clue.

[1] Yes, I know. Turns out there's a limit to the number of comedy radio programmes or personalities with names that rhyme with "hour". And that limit is one.
