Not bad, but a bit thin.

The classic mistake a season finale can make is trying to make it seem like something really significant has happened, without actually changing anything. So we get a lot of runaround with a Great Big Death hovering over someone's head, before it settles on Nimueh. Because you can't get most significant and permanent than killing off the Big Bad. Just ask Davros.

The other thing that happens is that Merlin severs all ties with the Dragon (like he ever listened to it anyway). Because you also can't get more significant and permanent than the hero swearing never to talk to his mysterious and questionable mentor again, without said mentor actually disappearing. Just ask the Smallville version of Jor-El.

(And Bedivere gets eaten by the Questing Beast. At this rate, by the time Arthur takes the throne, none of the major Knights of the Round Table will be left. Why the redshirts have such significant names is one of the great mysteries of the programme.)

[snerk] Yes, I have a feeling she'll be back. She was probably protected by those six inches of lip gloss she was wearing :-)

Yes, I noticed that too. Who's gonna chuck Excalibur back into the lake after the last battle now?

And when the Questing Beast turned up, I was half expecting Thursday Next to make an appearance :-)

Or possibly the ugly shoes...I wish they'd left her barefoot, but maybe that's just me :o)

I must admit I didn't notice the shoes - I was too busy wondering where she'd found a makeup counter in Camelot :-)
