The problem with shared universes
May. 20th, 2012 06:08 pmThought experiment: You are Dr Vanessa off of Warehouse 13. In your cover profession as a member of the Centre for Disease Control, you are guesting in an episode of Alphas. You are helping to investigate an series of unnatural deaths which turn out to be caused by an inexplicable addiction to someone's presence. The team from the DCIS claim to know how this is being spread, but refuse to discuss it.
Do you think "Well, they seem to know what they're talking about. I certainly have experience of government secrets, I'll let them get on with it."
Or do you think "This looks like the sort of thing an Artifact would do. These people don't know anything about Artifacts, so I'd better phone Artie and get him to send the agents."
I'd be inclined to think the latter, personally.
