Yeah, so I was checking the Sky+ box for stuff we could delete to make room for Christmas stuff, and I realised I hadn't watched this yet...

Morgana finally makes her move, and Arthur is forced to realise that Agrivaine is working with her. He's also forced to flee, which Merlin facilitates by stripping his will. The eager-to-please, unquestioning Arthur was amusing, especially the brief period when it wore off and he had to keep acting like that. A shame he didn't remember anything though; it'd be more interesting if he recalled saying he should be more considerate to Merlin, but couldn't think why.

Isolde and Tristram as smugglers. Well, that was random. Interesting touch that she's a warrior, and he doesn't appear to be.

Agrivaine seems to be realising that, yes, Morgana has all the qualities he regards as "strong" in a ruler, but she's also totally Librarian-poo insane. Since he didn't run while he had the chance, or secretly rejoin Arthur, and moreover pledged he would stay at her side, I can only assume he's plotting to bump her off and rule himself.

And Arthur and Gwen are reunited. Awwww! Just in time for Merlin's village to be beseiged!

Mythwatch: North of Camelot lies "Lot's Kingdom" (formerly Cenred's kingdom, presumably, since Merlin's village is there). In the myths Lot is the king of Lothian and the Orkneys, and the Big Bad of Arthur's early reign. He was also married to Morguase, which presumably is getting ignored here.

Tristram was the greatest knight in the service of King Mark of Cornwall, who fell in love with his leige's wife, Isolde (er, hang on, I've heard that one somewhere before...) He was exiled a few times, sometimes going to Camelot, sometimes to his own castle Dolorous Gard, and sometimes outside Britain altogether (on one of these trips ending up married to a completely different Isolde). Eventually, Mark killed both of them. No idea how much of this is Merlin canon, but it's interesting to speculate as to why Tristram hates kings so much...

"Nathair" is quite simply Gaelic for "snake". "Asgorath" is, oddly enough, the creator god of dragons in Forgotten Realms.
