Smallville - Abandoned

Wow, that was creepy.
Christine Willes makes an excellent Granny Goodness. Just the right blend of "Granny loves you and is doing this for your own good" and "Granny is completely insane and is doing this because, really, she hates you". And the Female Furies were nicely realised, even if only Lashina and Mad Harriet got to stand out.
The little girl having her memory wiped was proper Nightmare Fuel ... as were the quiet and obedient girls singing "Amazing Grace" - had they already had it done?
Two and a half related plots: A-plot - Tess finds out her parents aren't who she thought they were, and that she spend time in an Evil Orphanage. B-plot - Lois connects with the mother she never really knew. B-and-a-half-plot - this inspires her to pressurise Jor-El and Clark into reconciling.
I laughed out loud when Ellen Lane appeared on the video and was Teri Hatcher. This is why I avoid spoilers; so moments like this come as a surprise. There's a continuity here; Phyllis Coates from Superman Vs The Mole Men and the first season of The Adventures of Superman played Ellen in Lois & Clark. And the casting gags continue as a proper Jor-El and Lara hologram message finally appears, letting Helen Slater reprise her role as Lara. (Opposite Julian Sands as Jor-El, despite these being the last days. So it's not that Sands is Young Jor-El and Stamp is Older Jor-EL, it's that Sands is Real Jor-El and Stamp is Computer Jor-El?)
Two more things that might be subtle continuity nods, or might be me reading too much into things: "St Louise's Orphanage" made me think of Louise Simonson, a brillian Superman writer and the wife of Walt Simonson who had a pretty epic run on New Gods. And the kids singing "Amazing Grace" could be a reference to Glorious Godfrey's sister in the comics, Amazing Grace.
Sighed when, once again, villains randomly use Kryptonite for something it shouldn't really help with, just so there's quantities of it about when Clark needs to get beaten up.
And Darkseid's minions come together. Apparently he only has three agents on Earth: Granny, Godfrey and Desaad. I was hoping for Vermin Vundabar, but whatever.
Um ... so as well as being Miss Tessmacher and Mercy Graves, Tess is also Lena Thorul? Really didn't see that one coming. (Hang on ... Granny's favourite, chosen to lead the Furies but rebelled ... she's Big Barda as well, isn't she?)
