Smallville - Supergirl

As the title suggests, it's the return of Kara!
Okay, so not only is Clark now not going to be the first public superhero, he's not even going to be the first public Kryptonian hero in a red-yellow-and-blue costume. At least Kara hasn't been given a hero name yet, so he can still be the first public superhero called Super-something. (Comics injoke: Lois considering calling Kara "Power Girl".)
So it seems in Smallville continuity, there isn't a planet of evil New Gods, just one force of ultimate evil, and humans possessed by it. Godfrey is one, and presumably the owner of Club Desaad is another. (I'm surprised the girls at the club aren't named after the Female Furies, as in Grant Morrison's Mister Miracle, but maybe they're saving that concept for later.)
And once again, Jor-El is a jerk. But at least his various contradictory statements that Clark isn't ready to fight the ultimate evil and Clark is going to be the ultimate evil fit together now; he isn't ready, and therefore "the Darkness" can possess him.
Sidways reference to the Darkness as Godfrey's "dark side", but still no use of Darkseid as its name.
And Ollie rips off the final scene of Iron Man! Like Tony, he's always been casual about his secret identity in the comics, so this makes sense. The "Should heroes go public?" question continues to be the theme of the series, with Lois advising Clark against it, Ollie jumping from one extreme to the other, and Kara showing you can be a public hero and maintain a secret identity. I wonder which Clark will choose?
