The Impossible Astronaut
Apr. 23rd, 2011 09:28 pmHoly flippin' heck!
In a way, it seems sadly appropriate that this series starts with a funeral, albeit a wibbly-wobbly,
timey-wimey funeral. So we now know that the plan is for Matt to continue in the role for the next 200 years, after which the series will end forever.
Yes, all right, no matter how much the Moff or elderly-FBI-agent-guy insist that this really is the Doctor and he really is dead, we all know something else wibbly-wobbly and timey-wimey is going to happen to sort it out. The question is, will this happen next week, or will the Doctor's future be hanging over the whole season?
Stuart Milligan makes a great Nixon; I didn't recognise him as Adam Klaus until I saw him before the make up went on in Confidential. The Silence are intriguing villains; the idea you don't remember they're there unless you're looking straight at them is suitably creepy. And is it just me and my neice, or did the mechanism Rory and River found look a lot like the one in "The Lodger"? We never did find out who was behind that...
All this plus Amy is pregnant and has just shot the mysterious little girl! Roll on next week!

Date: 2011-04-23 08:39 pm (UTC)I blogged last week on what I expected to happen, based on what was known at the time — and though the episode doesn't air here for four more hours, the pictures the BBC released yesterday make it clear who dies.
I expect, the way that Moffat has hammered away at the idea of "Time can be rewritten," that the Doctor is going to do to himself what he did to Kazran Sardick — rewrite a life to give it a happy ending.
Either that, or what was shown in the episode (which I've not seen yet), is not actually what it appears to be.
