RIP Liz Sladen

Can't quite believe this has happened.

This is turning into one of those years. In 1990, we lost Roald Dahl and Jim Henson within a few months of each other, and I started getting superstitiously worried as to which person I was a fan of would be next.

This year we've already lost Nick Courtney, Dwayne McDuffie and Diane Wynne-Jones. And now Liz.

In 1990, as I recall, Dodie Smith also died not too long before/after (I forget which) Roald Dahl.

But I can't remember a year being quite as bad as this with it being one after the other. I am feeling like paranoically Googling any person I am a fan off who is not so likely to come up on my flist just in case. Although, of course, really, it actually makes nobody any more or less likely to die. :-(

DWJ was just... I knew that she was terminally ill, but if ever there was a person who was likely to confound medical science with an impossible recovery, it was her. :-( (again)

I know what you mean about the superstitious aspect. I was writing a comment on another post, mentioned a much-loved actor and found myself wondering if I'd just doomed him.
