New cool stuff = dilemma
Jun. 29th, 2010 09:28 pmThe First Thoughts (Obsessive Completist):
The Tiffany Aching books are out in standard format paperback! With brand new Kidby covers!
The Second Thoughts (Prudent Scot):
But I already have the Tiffany books, don't I? In hardback. Why do I need to buy them again?
Obsessive Completist:
Because they'll match the rest of my collection!
Prudent Scot:
Is that really worth buying three books I already own? I'm running short of bookshelf space, y'know.
Obsessive Completist:
That's a good point. So let's donate those bulky hardbacks to charity, or my neice or something!
Prudent Scot:
It still seems like a waste to spend money on something I already own. And the current Tiffany books match The Amazing Maurice. Which isn't coming out in a new Kidby paperback, before I start.
Obsessive Completist:
Well, not yet. And they don't, really. The first two do, sort of, but Wintersmith is a standard-sized hardback, not the mini-hardback of the other YA Discworlds. In fact, I've never been happy with the hardback of Wintersmith, because it doesn't match the others. And I Shall Wear Midnight will only be available with a new-style cover, so it'll match even less.
Prudent Scot:
I've already made up my mind, haven't I?
Obsessive Completist
Not really. If I had, I wouldn't be arguing about it with myself, would I? But...
Prudent Scot
...But even though I haven't officially made up my mind, I'm going to do it?
Obsessive Completist
Probably, yeah.
Prudent Scot
Fine. At least I got a hearing this time, unlike every visit to the comics shop...
