The end seemed a bit of a Broken Aesop to be honest, or possible a lost one; the Doctor has helped Sophie realise she can do anything she wants and isn't tied to this nowhere town
Well...yes and no. He showed her she could go anywhere so that he could ask her why she didn't. She didn't really want to go, because Craig was staying - and Craig didn't really need to stay, he just thought he did because that's where she was.
