Actually, while Moffet always brings the scares, he does tend to shy away from death, doesn't he?
I mean, in past seasons, he gave us the two "Everyone Lives!" stories, one where one woman died of old age, and one with "the nicest serial killers in the universe", whose victims also died of old age.
And as far as I recall, no-one died in "The Eleventh Hour", either.
But my own view is that every character who dies is a failure on the Doctor's part. And he shouldn't fail that often, because he's the Doctor.
