ciciaye:
1-Elaborate on your default icon.
It's the Kennedy (or Ceannaideach) clan crest. The dolphin has an ancient heraldic meaning I have not yet been able to discover, and the motto means "Consider the End", something I'm very bad at.
2-What's your current relationship status?
Single
3-Ever had a near-death experience?
Since
ciciaye already used the Pratchett-fan joke that being at a Discworld Event means being near to several Deaths, I'll just say no.
4-Name an obvious quality you have.
Not sure there is one. People I've known for years say "Oh, yeah ... and David. He's the quiet one."
5-What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
I'm not sure. It's very annoying, though.
6-Any celeb you would marry?
Don't think so.
7-Who will cut and paste this first?
Not sure.
8-Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity?
Does Ponder Stibbons count as a celebrity? When I was thinner it was "that guy who played Adrian Mole on TV".
9-Do you wear a watch? What kind?
Casio, with six alarms, and a number of other functions that I'm sure are very useful if you can get them to work.
10-Do you have anything pierced?
No.
11-Do you have any tattoos?
No.
12-Do you like pain?
No.
13-Do you like to shop?
For books, yes. For food, kind of. For clothes, nah.
14-What was the last thing you paid for with cash?
Bus home from work.
15-What was the last thing you paid for with your credit card?
Six months ago my standard answer would have been "I don't have a credit card. I barely trust myself with cash." Now it's "Nothing. My credit card is hidden in a drawer because I'm scared of it."
The last thing I bought with my debit card (I trust debit cards. If you don't have the money they *tell* you, they don't let you buy things and tell you you can't afford them later) was a batch of comics from my local comic shop.
16-Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone?
Some woman who wanted to speak to Mum, who wasn't in. If she told me what company she represented, I've forgotten.
17-What is on your desktop background?
A sort of checked pattern of alternating Paul Kidby Watch and Witches pictures.
18-What is the background on your cell phone?
A siamese cat.
19-Do you like redheads?
Yeah, I guess.
20-Do you know any twins?
No.
21-Do you have any weird relatives?
My relatives certainly do 8-)...
22-What was the last movie you watched?
Pirates of the Carribean, I think.
23-What was the last book you read?
Just finished "Secret Files of the Diogenes Club" by Kim Newman. Just started "System of the World" by Neal Stephenson.
24-Is there such a thing as love at first sight, or it is more likely to be "lust at first sight"?
Yes, I'm certain that it happens all the time. (Sorry)
25-What's your favourite book?
AAAAAAAAARGH! I'm going to spend *hours* worrying about that now.
26-When was the last time you visited the street where you first lived?
Never. I don't even remember living there. The first place I remember living in is the house I'm in now.
27-When was the last time you googled your own name?
A while ago, I lost my AOL homepage and was trying to find it.
28-What was your favourite subject at school?
Science or English.
29-What was your least favourite subject at school?
PE, eventually. When I was very young I quite liked it; running, kicking a ball about, all that sort of stuff. It was fun. Then the fact I was no good at any of it became a factor, and my enjoyment dropped. Then the other kids noticed I was no good at any of it, and it became a nightmare.
Now, having been trained by my school to associate physical exercise with claiming I have a stomach ache (usually true, hideous amounts of nervous tension have that effect on me) and going home, I'm unfit. Good job, school.
30-Do you like having your photograph taken?
I don't *mind* it.
31-What time were you born?
No idea.
32-Ever seriously questioned your sanity?
Never stop.
33-How many phone numbers do you have remembered and can say off the top of your head?
My home phone number and, for some reason, the number of the first place I had work experience. I phoned them by mistake a few weeks ago, because I thought I was remembering the number for my current employer...
34-Can you Limbo?
No.
35-Have you ever killed your own dinner?
Once, a long time ago. It was a potato.
36-How long have you been living at your current residence?
Long as I can remember.
37-What phobias do you have?
Dogs. Anything involving social situations.
38-What's your ideal breakfast?
Cup of tea, Weetabix. And maybe a boiled egg, but probably not.
Well, that's what I like to believe, anyway. In fact, if I'm at a B&B or hotel with a breakfast buffet, I'll have that on day one. On day two I'll notice there are actually *three* different kinds of eggs, and on day three I'll clear the hotplates of everything vegetarian except the mushrooms. So I suppose that's my ideal breakfast, but I wouldn't want it regularly.
39-Where are you right now?
Kitchen.
40-Why do you blog?
I don't know, it just sort of happened.
41-What would you call your autobiography?
"The Life of Schrodinger the Cat and his tin-opening person".
42-What's the longest time you've stayed out of the country/where?
I spent a few weeks going around Europe many years ago.
43-Do you use ICQ, AOL Buddy list etc..?
I don't *think* of myself as using AOL Buddy List; my sister uses it, and I'm just who she uses it *on*.
44-Do you have nightmares frequently?
Not so much as I used to. The sort of dreams I get now aren't scary, as such, just really, really odd.
45-If you were another person, would you be friends with you?
Assuming I was another person who was still me (IYSWIM), prossibly not. It's a shame, but I can just picture two mes, both equally uncertain how to start a conversation with the other...
If we actually got past that hurdle, then yeah. We've got so much in common.
46-Which TV character could you be friends with?
Um... the Doctor, maybe. If he was very patient about it.
47- What's on your mouse pad?
Death and Mort, riding Binky. It was made by Clarecraft many, many moons ago.
48- What is your ring tone?
It's called "Mineral"; it sounds sort of like "Tubular Bells".
49. What did you watch on TV last night?
I didn't; I spent all of last night online. And also all of this night. I may be missing some decent programmes.
50. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings.

Date: 2007-11-29 01:29 am (UTC)That's a dolphin? Why does it have scales, then?
...no, don't tell me. Tradition, am I right?
has an ancient heraldic meaning I have not yet been able to discover
Maybe it's got something to do with the family motto being "Avise la fin"...

Date: 2007-11-29 05:32 am (UTC)One quality I would argue you have is good taste. Particularly in the realm of music and books and such things. Immediately after arguing this, I would look for somewhere to run.
I won't do the meme, but this (http://web.netyp.com/member/dragon/fractal/mndxmch.gif) is my desktop background (centred on an area of 1024x768 pixels with a black border), and this (http://web.netyp.com/member/dragon/fractal/psiral.gif) is the image that the background of my icon comes from (near the bottom).

Date: 2007-11-29 07:30 pm (UTC)I know the heraldic tiger looks the way it does because, back in the day, Westerners only knew tigers from traveller's tales. But we've *got* dolphins. Anyone near a coastline can see what they look like. So what the heralds were thinking, I have no idea.
("In unscientific days" so one website tells me, "the dolphin was considered King of Fish, just as the lion was King of Beasts and the eagle was King of Birds". Fair enough. But you can still see they don't have scales!)
You're probably right about the "fin" pun.
