Just heard the first post-Humph ISIHAC on Listen Again. (We were round at my sister's on Monday; we had it on, but with two kids running around we heard less than half of it, and most of that we couldn't follow because we'd missed the setups.)

Excellent. Stephen Fry is a wonderful choice of chairman; a bit more genial than Humph (when he's slagging off the teams it sounds like it's all in good fun[1]) but with the same dry delivery. He doesn't quite have the same knack of throwing out double entendres as if he has no idea what they mean (because, come on, it's Stephen Fry, the man who once caused an entire Clue audience to collapse with laughter by the way he said "moist"), but that's fine; trying to duplicate Humph's style exactly would have been a really horrible idea.

And Victoria Wood makes an excellent panellist. It's quite a surprise to hear someone new on the show, especially someone who isn't new to BBC comedy; I unconsciously assume that any comedian of a certain generation hanging around Broadcasting House must have been asked to do Clue and if they haven't it's because they don't want to. (Not necessarily because they don't like it; Steve Punt (or was it Hugh Dennis?) once said that they wouldn't do Clue because they wanted to stay a listener.)

[1]On which note, it'll be interesting to hear the Jack Dee episodes, which will almost certainly be the exact opposite 8-).
