Character breakdown:
Miss Marple appears in both Miss Marple fics.Nobody else appears in more than one.

Best/worst title?
Just this once, I'm pretty happy with all of them. I've got a couple of nice alliterations, a terrible pun, Jungle Duck Alive! couldn't possibly be called anything else, and I finally used a "Five Times" title!

Best/worst summary?
I quite like the Monsterpiece Theatre one. Most of the others are simply functional. The Five Times one maybe telegraphs the gag.

Best/worst first line?
Most of them are ... fine. I don't know why I went to the trouble of looking up Darkwing and Launchpad's address so I could start Jungle Duck Alive! with a clunking "this is the thing I've just looked up" rather than just saying "Drake Mallard's house".

Best/worst last line?
I'm quite pleased with the punchline of Lattes and Literalism.
The last line of Jungle Duck Alive! is a bit "There needs to be something shaped like a punchline here, and this is shaped like a punchline." It's not quite "Well, that just happened" but it's close.

Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
After several years of 0-3 fics, I'd have to say 6 is more. I'm kind of surprised I didn't complete more Wold-Newton sfuff though -- I've so much nearly-complete articles and the one I did was an entirely new idea that struck me.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?
If you told me I'd riff on thisbluespirit's excellent "The Spirit of St Mary Mead", I'd probably have thought "No. I wouldn't have the nerve." But I suddenly thought of an idea that fitted, and I had to go for it.

What's your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
Jungle Duck Alive! is such a daft idea, and I love my daft ideas.

Okay, NOW your most popular story.
Despite my trepidation, Nemesis the Virgin got 21 kudos and several positive comments.

Story most underappreciated by the universe?
I'm starting to wonder if maybe Sesame Street fanfic is fundamentally a tough sell.

Story that could have been better?
Possibly all of them!

Sexiest story?
As usual, nope.

Saddest story?

Possibly "The Red Shower" in Five Times, although I can't take credit for that because it's entirely riding on the coattails of the series.

Most fun?
Either Jungle Duck Alive! or Lattes and Literalism.

Story with single sweetest moment?
Hm. Not sure. Probably one of the Five Times; I think I did some nice friendship moments there.

Hardest story to write?
Five Times was one of those ones where I come up with the the basic format, and then realise I have to write actual stories. In this case, I wrote "Death of Dog" and "Crowd of the Innocents", and then it was "Now I need to come up with four more of these or the title doesn't work." And I needed to come up with a hook for the setting update and a reason for John not to blog about it.

Easiest/most fun story to write?
Since I don't actually remember writing Monsterpiece Theatre, I just found it while I was sorting my hard drive, I'm guessing it was pretty easy to write. Lattes and Literalism was so easy I wrote it directly into the AO3 form rather than drafting it in a Word document - it's kind of worrying how simple it is for me to get into that mindset.

Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?
Nope.

Most overdue story?
Probably Monsterpiece Theatre, given that I wrote it last year and then forgot.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
As noted above, I wrote Lattes and Literalism directly into AO3 with no drafting process. That was definitely a risk, but I'm not sure I learned anything from it. (It worked, but that doesn't mean I think it'd be a good idea to do it again.)

What are your fic writing goals for next year?
Remember about Yuletide.
Start unloading my epic "This is how Doctor Who does so fit into the WNU" series of Wold-Newton articles.
Finish one of the two Long Fics I have unfinished, preferably the one I started posting on AO3 in the belief that this would encourage me to actually buckle down and complete it. That was in 2022.

How did you do on last year's goals?
I remembered about Yuletide in Actual December.

Also, this wasn't actually a goal I set last year, but it's something I'm annoyed with myself about, I had the brilliant idea of writing a drabble or microfic for every character in the 70 Years, 70 Muppets campaign, but unfortunately I had this idea in September, when I should have had it last August.

Aww! I'm very happy you did! <3
