Fanfic Year in Review

Memed from
pedanther and
john_elliott.
1. Critical Vengeance
2. You Shall Not Pass
And um ... that would seem to be it. Total: 2 stories, 194 words. (There is also a TTR drabble that I completed, but never got round to actually posting anywhere.)
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
Less, less, less. I was full of hopes when I did the 500 prompts thing back in February.
Where did you publish/archive your stories?
Right here on LJ.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2013?
One Doctor Who comedy fic, one Discworld ficlet. I think I can safely say the answer to this question is "none".
ETA: Having thought about it, it occurs to me that You Shall Not Pass is technically a Real Person Fic. That's not something I'd have predicted, if Peter Davison hadn't provided me with "fictionalised" versions I could use.
What's your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
Probably "You Shall Not Pass", although I'm quite pleased with "Critical Vengeance" as well.
Okay, NOW your most popular story.
"You Shall Not Pass" got two positive comments, while "Critical Vengeance" only got one, so...
Story most underappreciated by the universe?
"Critical Vengeance" only got one, so... 8-)
Story that could have been better?
Both of them probably could have been better. I was intrigued by
john_elliott's suggestion that the security guard in "You Shall Not Pass" could have been Willum from The Goon Show, although cramming that in while keeping that he's Harry from AAISAT and Hoppit would probably have been a mistake.
Sexiest story?
Nope.
Most fun story?
Probably YSNP again.
Story with single sweetest moment?
The story that made you cry?
Yeah, I wrote two silly ficlets. Not really applicable.
Hardest story to write?
I spent a while working on "Critical Vengeance". I knew what the basic idea was, but I wasn't sure about the shape, and I had a self-imposed deadline of John's birthday.
Easiest story to write?
Well, by definition... Actually YSNP almost literally came to me in a dream, and needed very little tweaking.
Most overdue story?
Neither of the ones I completed. The most overdue story still on the burner continues to be The Storytime That Time Forgot.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Went for the 500 prompts. Learnt that I am very bad at this.
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
Do some more of these prompts! And maybe even finish the Storytime.
