I asked Rob and when I mentioned the "unknown device" part, he said that sounded bad....
If it's only 8 months old, it should still be under warranty though - he reckons you need to take it back to the reseller you bought it from or the Apple Store - this one would appear to be your nearest :- http://www.stormfront.co.uk/inverness/
