This was Saturday 22nd of June. I've left off writing this because I feel very self-conscious about it for reasons which will shortly become clear.

It started the same as usual, we arrived, Mum got in drinks, we settled down in our seats. And then Iain came over and told Mum they were going to talk about her and it was my fault.

It turns out he'd read my entry on the 2011 concert, where I mention that Mum always sits at the back to avoid the banter. That possibility honestly hadn't occured to me. (Frankly, I was slightly amazed by the revelation anyone had read it.)

So I'm very aware that there's a chance he might be reading this as well. But even if he wasn't I'd be talking about what a great concert it was.

The trouble with leaving this for two weeks, of course, is that I can't remember what all the songs were, just that I liked them. (Because it was their tenth Midsummer Concert, the songs were all requests.) I know they started with "One Morning in Bar Harbour" by Eric Bogle, and that Ranald did "Wisheries", an interesting string of wordplay that he hadn't done for a while. And Iain did one of his own songs that I hadn't heard before (he said he hadn't played it this century!) "January Man", which was excellent. There were two Richard Thompson songs, "Galway to Graceland" and ... another one. They ended the first half and opened the second with "end of the fishing industry" songs: "Beacon" and "Farewell Tae The Haven".

In the second half they also did "No Telling" by Linda Thompson, which I like, and, um, they ended with "Mr Bojangles" and "Rolling Home", which is a good one for joining in the chorus.

And lots of other stuff that I don't completely remember but definitely enjoyed.

ETA: I've remembered that "Would The Last One Leaving New York Town" and "You Never Wanted Me" were in there somewhere. And I think they actually started with "Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness" then did "One Morning In Bar Harbour".
