The followup to "Luthor" is interesting. Clark Luthor swaps places with Clark Kent again, only this time Ultraman is a wanted man in his own universe, and Clark realises that alternate-Jonathan is still alive. John Schneider does a very good portrayal of a man who started out the same as our Jonathan, then lost everything and is now running on sheer desperation.
A very nice touch: AlterClark reacts to the burnt out shell of the Luthor Mansion in the same way as our Clark reacted to the abandoned Kent Farm in "Luthor"; this brings home that regular Smallville-verse is his weird opposite universe. And I was glad Clark Luthor couldn't fake being Clark Kent for more than a couple of minutes with either Lois or Tess. (It always annoys me when evil duplicates seem to have no problem passing as the real thing, even when they're very obviously evil, don't know the details of the original's life, and are dealing with characters who are aware of the existence of evil duplicates.)
First mention of Gold Kryptonite! In the comics it robs Kryptonians of their powers (originally permenantly then, when the writers realised they could hardly ever have someone use Gold K, for a few hours). I realise Jonathan is kind of insane, but Gold K isn't actually gold; it's Kryptonite.
And Clark, in the "everyone deserves another chance" mood that seems to be his theme this season, gives Clark Luthor another chance ... by letting the Fortress teach him to be a hero. Um, Clark has met the Jor-El program, hasn't he? I'd lay good money that the first time it tries to "test" Clark Luthor, he trashes the place.
And how long do you think C.L.'s heroic career is going to last in a universe where everyone hates him and has Kryptonite, anyway?
