Woah, that was pretty spooky.

First off, the bits that didn't work for me; well, the whole business with the solar tower. I know where the "do we have the right to create life, and can we predict what it'll do if we do?" storyline comes from; I don't need a scene that practically has Igor in it. And the Gangers seemed to work out what was going on surprisingly quickly -- if I was a Ganger, I think I'd probably spend most of the hour in which my original was unconscious under the impression that I was still me, controlling it.

One scene that decidedly did work was Rory and Jennifer. And it's interesting that it's Ganger-Jennifer, not Cleaves who becomes the gung-ho, warlike leader of the Gangers; she's apparently decided that she is the tougher Jennifer she imagined on the moors. (Ganger-Cleaves, meanwhile, seems to be highly uncertain, and to view her "real" self's tough attitude with despair[1]; maybe not being base commander has thrown her off completely.)

I didn't see the cliffhanger coming, despite it being foreshadowed right at the start (it occured to me then, but when it didn't happen immediately, I forgot about it). That's certainly going to complicate things next week.

(Oh, and what's the betting that a Ganger-Rory gets created and killed before we're done?)

[1]"Oh, that is so typical of me!" was one of those moments that gives you a brief laugh and release of tension, before you remember the tense situation is still happening. Doctor Who is good at those moments.
