Since it doesn't look like anyone else is going to have a go, here are the answers.

The winner was [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs, who recognised all the Runrig stuff and a few others and scores 10 1/2. In second place is [livejournal.com profile] sabremeister, who got all three From The Discworld tracks and scores 3. Third place is [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat, with 1 point for getting "Both Sides The Tweed", and [livejournal.com profile] cat63, and [livejournal.com profile] silly_swordsman both get half a point for recognising "A Wizard's Staff", but not naming any of the people involved.

As you may have realised, most of them were folky. I was surprised no-one recognised the main exception, Mitch Benn, since I think most of my friends-list have the right sense of humour for him. (The randomiser also picked up a few They Might Be Giants songs, but in every case, the opening line was the title, and nothing else.)

While it seems most of you don't share my taste in music, I hope you're intrigued enough to have a listen to them if you get an opportunity 8-).

Apart from the Fairport Convention one, all the artists who only appear once came from a Celtic Connections CD that came free with the Glasgow Herald.

1. "These Ghoulish Things", Mitch Benn
2. "Matty Groves", Fairport Convention

[livejournal.com profile] cat63, [livejournal.com profile] sabremeister, [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs and [livejournal.com profile] silly_swordsman all got the title. [livejournal.com profile] sabremeister also got the composer.

29. "Waving at the Poor", Mitch Benn
30. "Hearthammer", Runrig
[livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs of course.
31. "Too Much Money", Mitch Benn
32. "Great A'Tuin", Dave Greenslade (comp), Tony Robinson (speech)
[livejournal.com profile] sabremeister guessed it was either this or "Moving Pictures" (which is actually called "Holy Wood Dreams").

The two I dropped because I wasn't sure I'd got the lyrics right were "Holy Wood Dreams" (which was just plain nasty of me, it's an instrumental with sound effects and the "lyrics" in question are actually the chatter of a party halfway through) and "Setal" by Daby Touré. ("Setal" is from the Celtic Connections CD, which doesn't have sleeve notes, and it's in French!)

Ubggre. I didn't know you'd gone back and redone it, or I'd have got Matty Groves and Jack Hall. I have got a best of Runrig CD, but I can't say I know it well.

I can honestly say I've never heard any of those songs, including "A Wizard's Staff, which I got by deduction rather than knowledge.

It seems that my musical knowledge has a big folk-shaped hole in it, which I need to do something about.
