Merlin finale
Dec. 14th, 2010 01:54 pmI was going to do this properly once I was connected at home again, but it doesn't look like that's happening til after Christmas, so here's another rushed review on my sister's computer.
Oh my freakin' Lord. Excalibur! The Round Table! The Lady of the Lake! Gwaine and Lancelot get knighted! Oh, and there was a story in there somewhere as well...
Actually, the story was pretty solid - I was disappointed that Morgana became an Evil Ruler almost instantly (missed dialogue opportunity: when she points out Uther also killed innocents, he should have replied "And I thought you wanted to be better than me?" Anyway, Uther didn't believe he was killing innocents; he thought he was killing evil magic users, whereas Morgana was deliberately executing random townspeople to make a point). The final scene where Gaius reminds us that actually, he knows a bit of magic too was excellent, and the "mirror" of last year's finale, with Morguase and Morgana reversed, was nicely done.
And then the sword, since being in the Lake wasn't safe enough, gets thrust into a Stone. Perfect.
