Arthur King of Time and Space fanfic
Because sometimes the only way to get a pun out of your head is to inflict it on others.
2x2
Arthur was taking one of the periodical sabbaticals from being Kay's squire to go on a trip in Merlin's time machine. He didn't know why the Avalonian had both permission and inclination to take him on these jaunts, but he wasn't going to complain about it.
Like many of them, this trip was to meet one of Merlin's old friends. And, like many of them, this old friend of Merlin's was a famous figure of legend. Noah. Not during the actual trip on the Ark, since apparently an older Merlin had been present for all of that and "Arthur's" Merlin didn't want to cross his timestream if he could avoid it, but in his later years running the largest vineyard on the planet Judea[1]. He was also quite happy to talk about the flood and his experiences.
"Of course, we all knew it was only going to last forty days, so that helped us with logistics and so on."
Arthur nodded, "God told you that, when he commanded you, didn't he?"
Noah looked surprised, "Is that what the stories say in your time? No, we had to calculate that ourselves with the Ark's computers."
"I'm no expert," Arthur said, "But isn't that sort of impossible with your time period's computers? It's one of those chaotic things, isn't it?"
"Well," Noah admitted, "Not exactly the Ark's computers. Merlin fitted us with a quantum array. I suspect that sort of thing is against Avalonian rules, but I suppose since he was already providing living space and genetic support, it was the least of his involvement."
"Ah, that makes sense. What size of array?"
"Oh, very modest by your time period's standards, I'm sure. Fifty qubits by thirty qubits."
[1] The problem with doing this in text is that I can't do Paul's "characters look familiar" thing. But if you want to imagine this elderly Noah as bearing a striking resemblance to Sir Patrick Stewart, I'm certainly not going to stop you.
