The four suggestions so far. Six numbers left, if anyone wants to suggest something.

3. Sam Vimes and Lady Sybil, repairing bicycle tires ([livejournal.com profile] vatine)

"Honestly, Sam, I think it would be much simpler if you got Wilikins to do it."

"Nonsense, dear, if I can't look after this velocipede thing myself, I'd no business buying it. Anyway, it's a proof-of-concept for its use to the Watch, and the lads aren't going to have Wilikins running around after them whenever they get a puncture!"

Sybil looked on doubtfully. Sam had removed his breastplate and chainmail, and was in his shirt-sleeves as he wrestled with the goblin-built contraption. Eventually he pulled out a lenghth of rubber in triumph.

"This is the, er, 'interior tube'. Now all we need to do is put it in water and see where the bubbles come up."

Sybil handed him the bucket and he submerged the tube. Sure enough, a thin line of bubbles appeared. "There we go. Now we apply the patch and, ah, heat it gently to melt the adhesive. Sybil, can you help with that?"

"Of course, dear, I know just the dragon for the job."

4. Richard Jeperson and Barbara Corri, cooking a cake ([livejournal.com profile] john_amend_all)

As they stared at the mass of dough, Richard sighed. "Remind me again," he said slowly, "why you joined me on this mission?"

"Well," said Barbara, "You told me you were going undercover as a caterer, and we decided..."

"You decided," Richard corrected her, "that I needed help. 'You don't know how to cook,' those were your words, 'You'll need a woman's touch.'"

"Now be fair," Barbara protested, "At no point in that did I say I could cook."

Richard's mouth twitched. Honestly, it was ridiculous that a sensitive had fallen for a ruse like that in the first place. The fact was, he liked Barbara's company, so hadn't examined the reasoning behind it too closely.

"All right," he acknowledged, "So neither of us can cook. On the other hand, we weren't able to stop Leech Enterprises' celebrity chef from adding his Secret Ingredient, so it's not as if we want anyone to eat it."

"Well, no problem there. And, by the way, I am deeply disappointed that he doesn't have the work ethic to bake his own mind-control cakes. I bet those 'ones I prepared earlier' on his Cloud 9 programme were done by the help as well."

8. Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak, unblocking the drain ([livejournal.com profile] john_amend_all)

"Remind me why we can't hire someone to do this?" Ollie asked, as he unbolted a length of pipe.

"Oh, sure," said Felicity, "'Hi, the drain in our campaign headquarters is blocked. Could you come round immediately and pretend not to notice the secret lair where the pipework should be?'"

"Right. And you're sure they'd need access to it?"

"Well, we do, don't we? I don't know what's causing the problem but pouring chemicals down there just wasn't cutting it."

"We could call Ray..."

"Ollie, we are not asking the Atom if he'd mind crawling around our drains!"

"Okay ... Ah, I think I've found something..."

"What is it?"

Ollie grimaced. "I don't know and I don't want to. I think I can get it out, if you can find me something long and thin, with a hook or something at the end."

Felicity smiled. "No problem. There's plenty of those lying around."

Ollie nodded absently, then doubletaked. "Something else!"

9. Emmett Brown and Clara Clayton, dusting ([livejournal.com profile] lost_spook)

"Clara, my love, what are you doing?" asked Emmett.

"Why, I'm dusting, of course, Emmet," said Clara, confused.

"Yes, I can see that. But why?"

"Because your laboratory gets dusty!" She paused, lowering the duster for a moment, "Am I damaging your inventions or something? I thought I was being careful..."

"No, no, it's fine. It just seems like so much work. Remember on our last trip to 1985, I bought a labour-saving device called a Dustbuster?"

"Yes, Emmet, I remember. So in order to save me the labour of moving a duster around, you propose that I move that contraption around, while you run around trying to keep that electrical generator of yours going?"

"Ah. I suppose a more efficient labour-saving method would be if I took a turn?"

Clara considered this for a moment. "Yes, I think that would be most acceptable."
