I know we're supposed to go on about the English not registering Scotland as a real place, but honestly, the Lallanders can be just as bad.

Glaswegian comedienne Susan Calman was on The News Quiz talking about (grr) D*nny Al*x*nd*r, and she said "No-one in Scotland has heard of him. Most Scottish people thought he was the new signing for Celtic."

I know it's an easy mistake to make but Glasgow != Scotland.

Quite correct, we shouldn't forget Paisley, Kilmarnock, and Moscow too... :op

Be fair, a lot of Scottish people from a lot of places in Scotland have no idea who he is, more due to him being equal parts nonentity and sock-puppet.

Now, I'd agree with you about him being a sock-puppet. Up until two weeks ago, though, he was a tireless crusader for the Highlands, asking serious questions about the A9, and also had a string of shadow minister positions.

I hadn't heard of Jim Murphy before he became Sec of State[1], but I assumed the people of East Renfrewshire probably had.

[1]Come to think of it, I don't recall hearing much from him afterwards, either...

"a string of shadow minister positions."

Yeah, okay, admittedly that was the Lib Dem Shadow Cabinet, not the actual Shadow Cabinet.
