Smallville - Fortune

What the heck was that meant to be?

That has to be the biggest mess of an episode I've seen in a while. A basic concept that requires Zatanna to deliberately do something phenomenally stupid and irresponsible (Let's give the most powerful being on Earth, who thinks alcohol won't affect him, magical inhibition-lowering champagne! That'll end well!) and a story that seems decidedly uncertain whether or not to deal with the repercussions of said irresponsiblity.

So it starts of being a zany comedy on "Woooh! What did we do last night?" lines ... and then Dr Hamilton gets seriously beaten up by Fortune's goons[1] ... and then it goes back to zany comedy.

And then we learn that Chloe and Ollie got married ... while blitzed and don't remember it. And our reaction to this is supposed to be "yay for true love"? Seriously?

The only part of this episode that's remotely worthwhile is the brief allusion to The DC Characters Who Must Not Be Named.

[1]You know an episode's got problems when it features one of JLA's lamer villains, and it still feels like he's being wasted.

It was just a silly "breather" episode. If you take it as such, then it isn't too bad.

Who was the Charater who shall not be named btw, I missed that bit?
